Are you heading to Khao Lak for a family vacation? There are so many activities that you and your kids can enjoy! Here are six places you can visit for a blast!

1 – The Turtle Sanctuary

Remember that movie, Finding Nemo? You can now find Nemo the first, and turtles at the Turtle Sanctuary! Turtles have been protected by Thai law for many years. So much so, that you may even run into one while swimming off the coast of the Similan Islands. Established in 1985, the Phang Nga Coastal Fisheries Research and Development Center is a turtle conservation center where anyone can enter freely to observe the turtles.

In this place, young turtles are free from predators, thus giving a high rate of survival. Once these guys have grown for approximately eight months, they are placed in tanks where you and your family can see. Along with turtles is the anemone fish breeding program, which means you can find Nemo! Clownfishes are bred here and are displayed along with many other beautiful tropical fishes. With all the vibrant colors these fishes carry, you and your kids will be stunned.

2 – Khao Sok National Park

This enormous park spanning 450 kilometers is perfect for those seeking wildlife and adventure! Bring your family to get lost intentionally in the serene beauty of its lakes, trees, and coastlines. Be sure to wear comfy footwear and explore what the park has to offer. If you’re bringing kids under the age of five, it may be a bit of a hassle for them. Older kids, however, will love the place. The park boasts a rainforest experience due to monsoons it experiences at both ends of the coast. It is, in fact, one of the oldest rainforests in the world! You can even find limestone formations covered in plants. Waterfalls dot the park, and a bungalow sits on the human-made Cheow Lan Lake. Do you want a smelly surprise for your kids? Khao Sok National Park also holds the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia Kerrii. If you can’t find this meter-wide flower, you will surely smell it, as it smells like rotten meat during the summer.

3 – Lam Ru National Park

Off the main road, you will find Lam Ru National Park. Although not as stunning as Khao Sok National Park, it still offers waterfalls, trails, coastlines, and forests, and is a perfect place to have a family picnic.

The park offers butterflies, birds, reptiles, and even small mammals, plenty of wildlife for your kids to enjoy. If you fancy a swim, the ocean waters are crystal clear, and if you want, you can also swim at the waterfalls.

4 – Similan Islands

Are you looking for a great diving experience? Head for the Similan Islands off the coast of Khao Lak and speed boats are available to get you there quickly. Hear your children scream in excitement when they see cute dolphins and sea turtles when snorkeling at Christmas Point. The place is very tourist-friendly as well! They offer breakfast and lunch, a park entrance fee, gear for snorkeling, and even an English guide!

5 – Pak Weep Beach

Pak Weep Beach is well known for its powdery beach. It is lined with souvenir shops and restaurants, proving to be a perfect place to relax and have quality family time. If you plan to stay here, there are resorts and hotels as well!

6 – Tong Chong Fa Waterfall

Just over six kilometers off the Bang Niang main road is the beautiful Tong Chong Fa Waterfall. Here, you and your kids can enjoy fish foot baths and its natural Mother Nature Thailand spa treatments. However, you will have to attempt a steep climb to reach the location. Hear your kids giggle and squeal as tiny fishes nibble on their feet, while you listen to the sound of the waterfall. At the top, there is a swimming area, perfect after a climb.
